Why can't I make friends?
We're chatting about how to make friends as an adult, learning to be ok with being alone and questioning...is social media to blame for the lack of community nowadays? We also share how we approach friendships as two introverts, how we gained confidence spending time alone, and how social media leads to social isolation.

Just discovered Tyler and Todd today. As a result my outdoor work plans were soon lost as a result. I first enjoyed a dozen videos on You tube and then discovered Tangents with Tyler and Todd. I so enjoyed this past hour plus listening to the two of you. I have become a fan of your breath of fresh air and honesty. My partner Joseph were together for 30 years until his passing 14 years ago. Your relationship is similar to what our was and it gives me peace knowing that there are others out there similar to what we had. Hugs from afar to your family of five........

Some things that don't get acknowledged here. 1.) Tyler and Todd were fortunate to find each other fairly young in life and made a commentate. 2.) Tyler was fortunate to game the scholarship system after failing in a university and succeed in getting an atypical amount of scholastic support. We can debate the ethics of some of the scholarships he may have received... 3.) They began young, had lots of energy to renovate derelict properties. There were probably instances where the work was passable but substandard, because youth can't know and do everything without help somewhere. 4)They are a two person spousal income that is solidly 6 figures without dependents (no, pets are not legal dependents.) In short they are both lucky, fortunate, and somewhat atypical in their success. To minimize it to being "they just worked hard," while technically true, is also disingenuous. Being charming and charismatic and youthfully good-looking sometimes outweighs business acumen. If you have the ability to outsource production of a podcast, on top of a main channel and property management/renovation, you aren't hurting for resources.

Hey guys I follow your vids alot and always look forward to see what is next on your never ending to do list. But this conversation you guys produced is fascinating in that you have opened up and let us viewers discover more about you. What you both have accomplished together is amazing and especially the way you did it is to be applauded. Stop beating yourselves up I would be proud to have landlords like you. Yes times have changed and although I don't know the Candian government laws I am sure that no matter what it couldn't get any worse than what might happen here in the United States if the Donald is elected president. You think corprate greed is bad up there wait till Trump takes over and bankrupts the hole world. Anyway keep going bros your beating the odds of small guys able to help out the other small guys. I do have a question though, I don't know much about Nova Scotia so I am curious abouthow far it is between your new cabin and your property with the dome. Plus hope ypu get to spend warmer days growing your gardens.

As a straight person I don't think of other people having sex. Whether they are straight or not. One, it's non of my business but two, it's a bit pervy. So I'm pretty sure anyone who has a problem, thinks way too much about other people's sex lives and they are the ones who should be questioning their beliefs. Love is way more than sex.

Romans 10:9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

As a therapist, this was such a rewarding episode for me to watch. I so wish everyone was as thoughtful making decisions about whether or not to have children, and what it will mean in terms of changing their lives. Your ideas are spot on. Any child that lands in your family will be very lucky to have the two of you as parents.

I totally agree, my husband and I moved another state for 8 years. It was very difficult making new friends. We moved back to our home state. Our old friends moved on like they will. I find it difficult to merge back in and pick up where we left off when all of us have changed.

I never write comments but I just have to here. Thank you so much for this very honest episode. I can totally relate to this. Me and my partner are gay dads from Germany. For years we had been talking about it, weighing the options. But for almost 10 years there was always something in the way. As you said, it can’t happen just like that… Having a child is a very personal choice and in my opinion even asking someone if they do or do not want kids is very invasive. Let alone pushing somebody on that issue. Most people would never ask about somebody’s sex life but for me this is much less personal than whether I want kids or not. It’s really nobody’s business. As for us, in the end we decided to become foster parents. In Germany a child can only be adopted when the parents actively decide to give it up for adoption and even that is legally not so easy. Much more often a child is taken into care by the authorities when it is not safe with the biological parents or they are not in a position to look after the child sufficiently. Then foster parent are sought. There is an extensive review process and a year of foster parent school, similar to what you described. I am very grateful though, that we were not subjected to an emotional roller coaster like you. Here it is the foster care office that chooses the parents for a child in need and then takes this proposition to the biological parents if they are involved. This way there ist not this element of competition. It was still emotional enough and a time I will never forget. In November 2022 our son came to us as an 8 months old. He can live with us as long as he wants to and maybe soon there will be a little brother for him. :-) I could go on and on about our experiences, so much coming back to my mind. Really emotional and exciting... I wish you all the best for your future. What ever you do or decide, it will be the right thing in the end. Cheers, Martin
